As Elton John prepares to start his final tour (he will play Legacy Arena at the BJCC Dec. 4) I’m looking back at my 25+ Elton concerts. The first was Sunday July 18, 1976 at Memorial Coliseum in Tuscaloosa. I was 15! Ticket price, $8.75. Here’s a picture of my Concert Program and ticket. The 3 hour concert was a dream come true for EJ fans. He not only played the hits, but gems like 1969’s Empty Sky…the title track from his debut album. (Not released until 1975 in the United States.). Elton’s sold out tour featured seven sold out shows at Madison Square Garden in NYC. A record at the time.
